Find DongCheng District Located roughly East of the Central Line North-South line through TiananMen Square and Forbidden City. West of this Line, first drawn by the 15Th Century planners of the Imperial City (1442 AD), lies XiCheng District. East lies DongCheng, Dong meaning East. The North- and Eastern- Stretches of DongCheng District are limited by Beijing's second ring road, which roughly follows the lines of the Former City Walls.
As part of the Central Imperial City DongCheng District has been and is still is a district laced with History, dating from many a historic Era. As Beijing's Main Tibetan Temple, the YongHeGong or Lama Temple located at AndingMen on the 2nd ring road, was formerly an Imperial Family Estate.
Donated by the Emperor Qianlong himself as a gift to the Yellow Hat Sect of Tibetan-Lamaism, the YongHeGong is the central shrine of all Tibetans and Tibetan Buddhist in Beijing. It is also a favorite stop off for western tourist now connected by its own subway station stop off !

Fu WanFu - Former Residence Prince Fu
Hidden away in the middle of modern buildings inside Dongcheng District is the so far forgotten location of the Residence of Prince Fu, a member of the Ching Dynasty ruling Aisin-Gioro Clan and a brother to Prince Chun, the father of Last Emperor Pu Yi. Have a look around the former Imperial Mansion, well-hidden in the North-West Dongcheng District. Fu Wanfu, currently, is not a Tourist Museum but in use as housing estate annex office space. Be discrete + civil and you might be allowed a visit.
