In the year 1924, during the last few months of his life inside the Forbidden City, Pu Yi, Emperor Xuantong, often used the platform in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony as his tennis court while at the same time the gargantuan Square of Supreme Harmony became the designated "Imperial Bicycle Stadium" used by the young Emperor to race around in on his bicycle introduced by his Tutor, Sir Reginald Fleming Johnston.
